World's largest warship drops anchor in Solent off Portsmouth

The largest warship ever built dropped anchor in the Solent on Monday, as the USS Gerald R Ford visited Portsmouth after completing exercises in the North Atlantic. The giant vessel displaces 100,000 long tons and is 333 metres long – making the aircraft carrier 49 metres longer and around 36,000 tons heavier than HMS Queen Elizabeth, the UK's largest-ever aircraft carrier.
