If you to almost any of the “pro-Palestine” rallies that have repeatedly marched through Canadian cities since the October 7 massacres, you’re probably going to hear this chant: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” You might figure that it’s just a way of endorsing Palestinian statehood. That might be the intention of a more ambiguous slogan like “free Palestine,” but “the river to the sea” one is very explicitly meant as a call for the total destruction of Israel.
