Dwarf reed snakes 'cartwheel' away from danger

Researchers filmed dwarf reed snakes (Pseudorabdion) to better understand how the serpents pull off their remarkable rolling behavior. By keeping their heads relatively fixed and rotating the rest of their body, the snakes can tumble away at more than 12 feet per second, which is four times faster than they can slither.
