LA Weekly has obtained a video showing footage of a fatal August 9 shooting in which LAPD officers fired at 14 year-old Jesse Romero in Boyle Heights. Romero was carrying a handgun during the foot chase that precedes the shooting, but witness accounts differ as to whether he pointed the gun at police or tossed it away through a fence before the gunfire started. In the video, filmed within moments of the shooting, the handgun can be seen on the opposite side of the fence, several feet behind where Romero’s body fell.
