NIAS: Nevada's drone team

In July of 2013, GOED entered into a grant agreement with the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems, a non-profit corporation created to provide oversight of unmanned aircraft system testing. Since then, NIAS has participated in a number of history-making demonstrations... In November 2016, NIAS participated in an FAA operation in Denver to develop the counter unmanned systems industry, which is the development of defense systems against drone threats. In May 2017, NIAS helped set a record in long-distance drone package delivery, flying a fixed-wing drone more than 97 miles in Texas at altitudes ranging between 200 and 400 feet.
