Laang Spean cave in Battambang province, contains some of the oldest evidence of humankind in Cambodia. Every year, researchers from the French-Cambodian Prehistoric Mission, excavate for two months beginning in early February. Deputy Director General for Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Heng Sophady, talks to the Post about the importance of Laang Spean cave, which provides evidence of the earliest known civilisations in Cambodia.
