At 12, Dalya Zeno left her home in Aleppo, as Syria was on precipice of war, and relocated to Los Angeles. As she left behind her father, she began a new life with her mother and brother here, slowly finding her way as a Muslim teenager coming of age in Southern California. "Dalya's Other Country," a new documentary by filmmaker Julia Meltzer, follows the Syrian teen over the course of almost four years, tracing her journey as the only Muslim in an all-girls Catholic school.
