Shoren Heather Iarusso offers a close examination of the internal and external trauma of American racialized capitalist society, through the lens of her own life. From unexamined internal oppression to the greater scope of institutionalized racism, she shines a light on the damage done by the "negative peace" and conflict avoidance in white-dominated spaces. By studying our own traumas, we can open a gate to empathizing with the suffering of others.
