Crowds smash through store doors in frenzy for AC units amid France heatwave

Shoppers in France smashed through the doors of a store in a frantic rush to buy air-conditioning units as the country endured another spell of extreme heat. Witness Luc Auffret recorded the scene at a Lidl store in Nanterre, where he said the crowd forced open the entrance doors, ripping them from their frame as people surged inside. According to Auffret, police were called after several fights broke out during the chaos. The rush came as France prepared for a third heatwave in just a matter of days. In anticipation of soaring temperatures, Lidl announced it would restock stores with fans, air conditioners, and other cooling appliances, according to BFMTV.
