To sleep under the stars, to smell like campfire all day long, to bathe in rivers, to sweat out the beer at the next skatepark, to find your camp spot in the pitch black, then wake up at dawn with the birds chirping—these are the things that make a Northwest road trip a must every summer. I jumped in the Bones team van (our photographer Blair Alley tagged in for the second half of the trip) with only one goal: to head north, make it to Vancouver for the Vans contest, then hit Orcas Island on the way home. The events that transpired over this trip were par for the course, but who would wish it any other way?
