Two best friends were killed after being swept into the ocean Wednesday at Bonny Doon Beach in Santa Cruz County, California. Harshita Nair and Mahial Sran, both of Fremont, have been identified as the young women taken from shore by a killer wave at the infamous California beach, according to a spokeswoman for the County of Santa Cruz Sheriff-Coroner. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the treacherous beach to rescue the young women on Wednesday, after a witness called 911 at about 5 p.m., according to authorities. That night, CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit posted a video to social media of Santa Cruz County volunteer fire captain Kyle Breton explaining the dangers of rising tides at the beach.
