U.S. takes another step towards making Supersonic flights a reality as FAA proposes lifting ban

Travelers will soon be able to fly from the West Coast to the East Coast in just three hours after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposed to lift a 1970s a blanket ban on overland supersonic flights July 2 and replace it with a noise limit. Currently, the flight time between LA and NYC is around 6 hours, but with supersonic flights operating at a speed of more than 770 miles an hour –– faster than Mach 1 –– the travel time would be cut in half.
