Alaska Delegate Dave Donly Holds Up Convention Demanding State Vote Tally Be Recounted

Alaska state senator Dave Donly, who spoke the objection which caused the brief delay of the RNC official delegate count, told MSNBC after it was resolved that he is "feeling like we did everything we could to honor the votes of the people of Alaska. The RNC denied that. They didn't even consult with us about our own rules... They didn't talk to any of our representatives to the RNC about it. And their interpretation is dead wrong. Because we suspended that rule at our [state] convention. So those rules didn't apply to us at all. They are wrong." He claims that the rules which automatically bind delegates to support the only remaining candidate if other challengers drop out was suspended at Alaska's state convention. The RNC counted otherwise. "I will support the Republican candidate because it is superior option to Hillary Clinton," he added. The final counting was delayed when Alaska State Sen. Dave Donley said at the Republican National Convention that votes were miscounted during the nomination process for Donald Trump. <iframe width="640" height="400" scrolling="no" src="//www.washingtonpost.com/video/c/embed/2c2c5642-4e10-11e6-bf27-405106836f96" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
