While modern society deems heels sexy, impractical in everyday life, and are worn mainly by women, in the 1500s the Persian army wore heels to keep their feet in stirrups. In fact, the male population wore heels as a sign of status. As time propelled it became an obligation for women to wear heels and thus they became the feminine fashion trend they are today, making women appear more desirable.
