Dem Rep. Khanna: I Am Open To Voting For A Republican Speaker Willing To Compromise And Work With Biden

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) on Wednesday told FOX News host Neil Cavuto that he would be open to voting for a Republican candidate for Speaker that is "willing to compromise, willing to work with this president."
CAVUTO: So, let me switch gears back to this. And I will let you go, because I know you're a busy guy right now. But you are open to crossing party lines to settle this speaker situation, just not for Kevin McCarthy or any of the names that have been mentioned thus far? KHANNA: I floated a few names. I don't know if that will hurt their cause or help their cause. But I am open. I think we have to have a resolution to this. But if there are people like a Fitzpatrick or a Gallagher or David Joyce, and there may be others, who say, look, I want to govern, look and be inspired by what President Biden is doing with Mitch McConnell right now. They're working together. CAVUTO: But not Byron Donalds? I take it what from you're saying, not Byron Donalds? KHANNA: I couldn't be for him. It has to be someone who has trust that they're going to put the American people's agenda first and be willing to compromise, be willing to work with this president. CAVUTO: All right, so, Byron Donalds is not your guy, but you are open, again. And do you know whether some of your colleagues share an openness, besides Marcy Kaptur, to do that, again, depending on the individual? KHANNA: I think, depending on the individual, there are other members of Congress on the Democratic side who would be open to it. But it really depends on the individual. It depends on the... (CROSSTALK) CAVUTO: Who would be open to -- who would -- again, to be clear -- I'm sorry -- but to -- open to a Republican? KHANNA: Open to a Republican, depending on the individual and depending on the commitments they make, in terms of sharing subpoena power and not holding the country hostage on debt ceiling debates or a shutdown. CAVUTO: All right, that might limit the pool of potential candidates. (LAUGHTER) CAVUTO: We will see. But Congress -- excuse me -- Congressman, thank you. (CROSSTALK) KHANNA: Neil, are you a candidate? (CROSSTALK) CAVUTO: Well, I guess it's a jump ball right now. Anyone could try, right?
