Bumper tables are the best social-distancing invention

These personal "bumper tables" took social media by storm when they debuted at Fish Tales Bar & Grill in Ocean City, Md., on May 16. They're the brainchild of Erin Cermak, owner of Revolution Event Design & Production, based in Baltimore. The company has had to get creative with event planning over the last couple of months. Erin noted that while restaurants can open with reduced seating capacity, there was nothing in place to keep patrons safe at cocktail parties, networking events, or simply when people move past each other. The bumper table creates a forced, yet fun barrier between people, is mobile, and outfitted with cupholders. Once Maryland restaurants can open up for dine-in service, Fish Tales plans to use the bumper tables in part of its parking lot. Interested businesses or brands can buy or rent bumper tables, which can even be custom-printed with images or logos.
