Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners

Geneviève DeBose describes how she is experimenting with teacher-led small groups in order to provide students with tailored instruction. Before this lesson, she and her co-teacher surveyed students to discover their skill needs, and then formed stations from this data. At each station, students are working on a skill that will help them prepare for a text-based discussion of the book Wonder. At the end of class, students share out the specific skills they learned at each station.
