The fastest known star in the the Milky Way has been discovered by astronomers. The star, named S301, orbits the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. The European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope Interferometer (ESO’s VLTI) detected it. Credit: ESO
