<i>Morning Joe</i> host Joe Scarborough questions Tom Brokaw on President Trump's handling of the firing of FBI Director James Comey and investigating his administration in general. "We haven't even really begun the investigation in earnest in a public way," Scarborough said. "This is beginning to be an extraordinarily important political moment in the life of this country and the presidency about how a man conducts himself as a chief executive," Brokaw declared. Brokaw said if former President Obama behaved the same way as President Trump at this point there would be a "conflagration" by conservatives and conservative media. "Think if President Obama were behaving like this at this point about how the fire would be on out there on conservative media about it. It would be an enormous uprising, a conflagration if you will," the NBC News veteran said Friday morning. <blockquote>JOE SCARBOROUGH: The question is we haven't even really begun the investigation in earnest in a public way, but what do you suspect would move Trump voters off of Trump the way Nixon voters eventually moved off of Nixon? Because everybody claims that Trump is new [Nixon], Trump is special. TOM BROKAW: Well, within my own family and among my friends as well, I always remind everyone that Watergate was about an extraordinary criminal conspiracy that was run out of the Oval Office... Watergate was unique but this is beginning to be an extraordinarily important political moment in the life of this country and the presidency about how a man conducts himself as a chief executive of the United States and what his expectations are about how he ought to be protected from the rules that are in place and have been for a long, long time... You know, I had a lot of problems with some parts of the Obama administration. Think if President Obama were behaving like this at this point about how the fire would be on out there on conservative media about it. It would be an enormous uprising, a conflagration if you will, so they have got to get it straightened out in the White House, not just in their interest but especially in the interest of the American people in my judgment. </blockquote>
