RB Leipzig’s promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016 heralded the start of an ongoing battle with Borussia Dortmund to be Bayern Munich's biggest challengers on the domestic front. In virtually every season since, one or other of them has placed second in the title race, with each also winning the DFB Cup twice in that same timeframe. Both are in the top-end mix once again as they prepare for their latest meeting but, more generally, the situation is a little different this time around.
