The restaurant is the first big chain to do something like this, and there are signs it os going over well. According to Market Watch Its stock price moved over 6 points higher on Monday. According to data from last year 93 percent of all corn and 94 percent of all soy grown in the US was genetically modified, according to the US department of Agriculture. Mary Chapman who works for Technomic, a food industry research firm, says she is impressed Chipotle was able to pull it off. [Mary Chapman, Senior Director of Product Innovation, Technomic]: "They announced a couple of years ago that they were hoping to pull this off within the next couple of years, and, you know, knowing the supply chain and how much corn, and soy, and other products are genetically modified, it's pretty amazing that they have been able to find the resources to supply their chain."
