‘For the Record’: The ‘Gun Show Loophole’ - Fact or Fiction?

Many of those who argue for more gun control have focused on the so-called “gun show loophole” or “internet loophole.” In a January 2016 speech, President Barack Obama said, "A violent felon can buy the exact same weapon over the Internet with no background check, no questions asked.” Gun rights advocates say claiming there are gun show and internet loopholes is misleading and ambiguous. For example, all online sales from licensed gun dealers must pass through a Federal Firearms License holder, who is required to conduct a background check before completing the sale. “The Left has come to use the word “loophole” within the gun debate as 'a law that was explicitly passed by Congress that I don’t like,’” said Charles C. W. Cooke, a writer a National Review. For the Record investigates the push for greater gun control in a new episode, “Infringed,” airing Wednesday, March 30 at 9:00pm ET on TheBlaze TV.
