Rep. Peter King (R-NY) calls out Joe Scarborough for initially supporting Donald Trump but changed his mind and turned on the candidate when he started to get into hot water. Scarborough said he never supported Trump, he was just explaining to his elite friends that they had their "head in the sand" for not not taking a Trump presidential campaign seriously. "They didn't understand what was coming," Scarborough said about his prior reportage on the candidate. "I was supporting him when Joe and Mika were defending him," King said on Wednesday's edition of <i>Morning Joe</i>. Scarborough stopped the conversation and noted he never supported Trump, he said he was a Jeb Bush supporter, he simply was able to see that Trump could win the Republican nomination because "he know[s] Republican primary voters." "Let's take it back," Scarborough stopped King. "When we go back maybe nine, ten months ago with the Muslim ban. I don't think I heard you talking about the Muslim ban." "The second he did it. I said, is this what Germany looked like in 1933?" Scarborough said. "We have been very clear from the very beginning and, yeah, we had him on the show and we said he was likely to win the nomination. We were right for that. I said from the beginning I supported Jeb Bush." "Everyone missed that," Mika chimed in to defend Scarborough. "I said from the beginning that when Jeb Bush dropped out I supported John Kasich," Scarborough claimed. "I also said I couldn't vote for Donald Trump. I also said I could never vote for Donald Trump all along from the very beginning because of the things that he was saying. So, anyway, please don't revise history." Peter King said he is not revising history, he is just pointing out the "climate" Scarborough created. "I am not revising history," King said. "I'm just saying the climate you created, Joe, words have consequences. You certainly made Donald Trump out to be a very plausible, logical candidate." Scarborough reiterated he was just warning elites who had their heads in the sand what was coming. "No, what I said was, he could win the Republican nomination when we had elites coming on here saying there was no way he was going to win the Republican nomination," Scarborough said. "And there were people who had their head in the sand for way too long and because their heads were in the sand and they didn't understand what was coming." <blockquote>REP. PETER KING (R-NY): I'm saying what he said was wrong. but you cannot say that he intentionally wanted to have people kill Hillary Clinton. That's ridiculous. MIKA BRZEZINSKI: MORNING JOE: I'm not saying that. I'm saying this guy is not fit to be president. He proved it time and time again. And I can tell you this, Peter. Unequivocally, he will prove it to you again tomorrow, he will prove it against to you next week, he will prove it again to you all the way down the line. KING: I've been on your show criticizing Donald Trump more than you have. So I'm not here here as a Trump apologist. But I'm saying it's more unfit to have any candidate for president of the United States who has given any kind of support at all to those who support cop killers. That's what I'm saying. That's what Hillary Clinton did with Michael Brown. JOE SCARBOROUGH, MORNING JOE: And by the way, you haven't been criticizing Trump more than Mika has. Go ahead.
